Introduction
Very few people in the world realize that it’s possible to own private property in the Galapagos. When the Galapagos National Park was instituted in 1959, ninety seven percent of the land mass of the Galapagos were made the Galapagos National Park and three percent was set aside for private ownership.
The fact that such few people in the world know that owning private property is possible in such a special place has been a mixed blessing for the Galapagos. On the one hand it has prevented an onslaught of purchasers who perhaps wouldn’t be bound by high standards (such as ours) but on the other it has also kept true sustainable development at bay, thus limiting conservation incentives with the locals.
Our take is that we must earn the right to have a property in the Galapagos through the upholding of very high standards. We believe that this is not only the right thing to do but that it adds true value to our project.
Santa Fe will comprises 26 lots sized 0.6 acres each, in a nicely wooded area Santa Cruz Island just minutes away from cozy Puerto Ayora and the serene, turquoise waters of Academy Bay.
There is a real trend in the Galapagos towards favoring land-based tourism, as opposed to ship based tourism. Land based tourism has the potential to benefit the local population in a better way and to create a true incentive for conservation among them.
In this regard several facilities and changes are taking place in Santa Cruz Island, the tourist hub of the Galapagos. We believe that the upcoming years will be quite interesting. The price of land has an upwards trend and for Santa Fe.
Being such a fragile and special place the Galapagos, it’s hard to predict what restrictions may be had on development or ownership in the future. This is why we have sought to offer you a tremendous value from the very onset as well as a sound legal structure.
At the same time, we need to uphold what may be one of the most important values for Santa Fe. This value is easygoingness. |
